Jerry Jennings Cowley, age 69, died July 27, 2009. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Buchanan Cowley and his children, Curt Cowley, Suzanne Bingham, Karen Cowley, four grandchildren plus extended family. He was preceded in death by brother, Jack Cowley and parents, Jack and Pauline Westmoreland Cowley.
Born and reared in Marshall, TX, Jerry Cowley had a B.S. in Animal Science from Texas AM University. With a Ph.D in livestock breeding and post-doctorate from Baylor Medical School, he became a Beef Cattle Specialist for Texas AM Agricultural Extension Service and a premiere authority on breeding. He later managed ranches on the Texas-Mexico border.
He was a member of the Emmaus community and 1st United Methodist Church in Uvalde, TX. After cremation, a memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the 1st United Methodist Church. A meal will be served at 12:00 noon at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church Building Fund, 301 N. High St., Uvalde, TX 78801.
