Jerry McHazlett passed away peacefully on the morning of February 21, 2025 at 2:45am in San Antonio at St Lukes Baptist Hospital with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sonia R. McHazlett; his mother, Frances McHazlett; and his sister, Jeanette Caswell.
He was a father to Jerry McHazlett Jr., Jeff McHazlett and his wife Michelle, and Jill Cathcart and her husband Trey. His Legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Madison McHazlett, and Sydney Cathcart.
Jerry also embraced his additional stepchildren: Michelle and her husband JC Crider, Alex and his wife Kimberly Pargas, Lisa and her husband Mario Tijerina, Melissa and her husband Todd Weaver, and Lupe and Mike Lopez. He was blessed with numerous step-grandchildren, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers - and sisters-in-laws, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" McHazlett, and his brother, William "Billy" McHazlett Jr.
Jerry's life was marked by the many relationships he built while running his business, Jerry's Corner Mart. Known for his unapologetic opinions, unmistakable Texan drawl, and passion for fast cars, guns, bird hunting, golf, and boating, Jerry lived life on his own terms,
After retiring, he continued to enjoy his favorite pastime-golf-Sunday Football Games and watching old cowboy movies. He found solace and faith as a member of La Pryor Baptist Church, where he accepted Jesus into his life.
Though Jerry is no longer with us in body, his spirit, laughter, and sharp sense of humor will be deeply missed.
