Jesse Moreno, Jr.

October 23, 1957 — January 27, 2014

Jesse Torres Moreno Jr., 56, a resident of Kerrville for 22 years, died at his home on January 27, 2014 after a courageous 16year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He went to the afterlife to be with His Creator, grandfathers, and paternal grandmother. He was born in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas on October 23, 1957.
He graduated from Uvalde High School in 1976. Then attended Southwest Texas Junior College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in 1978. He then went on to the University Of Texas Health Science Center School Of Nursing in San Antonio and obtained his Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1981. He started his nursing career at The Bexar County Hospital. Later, he moved to New York State for several years where he married Loretta Donnelly and later celebrated the birth of their first son, Christopher Jesus Moreno. In 1991, after returning to Texas and choosing Kerrville as their home, they celebrated the birth of their second son, Eric Elisandro Moreno. Jesse was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church for twentythree years. His greatest passions in life were running, fishing, camping and hunting and especially when accompanied by family or friends.
He is survived by his two sons who provided him with the happiest and proudest times of his life his parents, Jesse R. and Andrea T. Moreno who always stood by his side his caring brother, who looked out for him during his long illness, Tony T. Moreno and wife Velma sisters, Nora Gonzalez and husband Raul Norma Gonzalez and husband Jesus kid sister, Andrea Perez his 96 year old maternal grandmother, Antonia Z. Torres numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde.
Pallbearers will be Raul Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez, Christopher Jesus Moreno, Eric Elisandro Moreno, Armando Gonzales and Dr. Al Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Joaquin Maxino, Vincent Mejia, Jimmy Roman and Angel Barefoot.
He wanted to thank his former wife, Loretta Donnelly Moreno, for providing him with his two wonderful sons and her unwavering support throughout the years.
He also wanted to thank the people he worked with for more than 20 years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kerrville Diane Bernhard, Alice Segnor, Billie Barrier, Trish Marguaret,
Vesta Cowan, and so many others.
He wanted to thank Dr. James Young, Pat, and Sharon Dr. Rebecca Barrington, Dina, Dyane, and Helen for all their efforts to keep him alive all these years and Peterson Hospice for providing him comfort while preserving his dignity the last days of his life.
