Jesse Donald (Don) Tumlinson, of Uvalde, passed away on November 16, 2023, at his home at the age of 90. He was born on October 15, 1933., to James Thomas Tumlinson and Lottie Lee McDonald.
He married Barbara Jean Mitchell on August 31, 1957 in Denver, Colorado.
He went to school at Carrizo Springs High School Class of 1951. He graduated from Southwestern University in 1968. He worked as a Minister for United Methodist Church for 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army. He went to work for Southwest Texas Junior College on September 3, 1969 as a History and Bible teacher, retiring after 30 years as the Division Chairman of Humanities and Fine Arts. He received his Masters Degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He received awards in Phi Gamma Mu Social Studies Honor Society, Dean's Honor Roll, Who's Who, and Phi Theta Kappa.
Jesse Donald (Don) is survived by wife of 66 years, Barbara; daughter, Donna Marie Gwinn; grandchildren James Dallas (JD) Gwinn (Ashley) of Iola, Texas and Justin Kyle Gwinn (Kayley) of Elgin, Texas; great grandchildren Shaely Gwinn, Grace Gwinn, and Jesse Gwinn of Iola, and Kinsley Gwinn and Kaisley Gwinn of Elgin; numerous nieces and nephews.
Jesse Donald Tumlinson, is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lottie Tumlinson; brothers Edward, Jimmy, Pete, Jurd, Carl, Richard, Robert, Lott, and sister, Cora Lee Goodyear.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 1:00pm at Uvalde Methodist Church, Uvalde, Texas. Reception will follow in Weston Hall.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Uvalde Hospice, Methodist Church, or Herby Ham Activity Center.
