Jesus M. Amaya of Uvalde passed away on November 6, 2008 in his residence at the age of 85. He was born on September 6, 1923 in Villa Union Coahuila, Mexico to Hipolito and Maria De Jesus Amaya. He is survived by one daughter; Luz M. Amaya and husband, Ruben Martinez of Uvalde, Texas; two sons; Emilio Amaya of Irving, Texas; and Armando Amaya and wife, Maricela of Grand Prairie, Texas; one sister; Augustina Amaya De Cantu of Villa Union Coahuila, Mexico; grandchildren; Fernando Amaya and wife, Rachel of Uvalde, Texas; Hipolito Amaya and wife, Vanessa of Eagle Pass, Texas; Brenda Amaya, Armando Amaya Jr., Andres Amaya, and Jesus Amaya all of Grand Prairie, Texas; and Karina Amaya of Irving, Texas; great grandchildren; Karis Amaya, Melia Amaya, and Emilio Amaya all of Uvalde, Texas; Jesse Amaya, Kaytlyn Amaya, and Ivan Amaya all of Eagle Pass, Texas; Gizelle Vela, Ignacio Lepe, Eric Amaya, and Angelina Amaya all of Grand Prairie, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria De Los Santos Vasquez Amaya; parents; two sons; Jesus Amaya Jr., and Hipolito Amaya; one daughter, Guadalupe Bertha Amaya; one brother; Andres Amaya; one sister; Josephina Amaya. A rosary will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Monday, November 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fernando Amaya, Andres Amaya, Jesse Amaya, Polo Amaya, Oscar Amaya, Ruben Martinez, and Ramon Galvan. Honorary pallbearers will be Armando Amaya Jr.,and Emilio E. Amaya.
