Jesus "Surdo" S. Martinez

Jesus S. Martinez of Uvalde passed away on Monday 12th, February 2024 at 6:30 am at Methodist Metropolitan in San Antonio.

 A visitation will be held on February 22 followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing Estes Knowles Mortuary.

 A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday February 23, 2024, at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Funeral Cemetery

He was born on April 18, 1941 in Uvalde, Texas to Consuelo and Jose Jesus Martinez, (deceased).  

He is survived by his wife Masimiana (Maxine) Martinez of 32 years;  four daughters, Connie Rubio and husband, Luis of Uvalde, Yesenia Flores and husband, Leo of Brackettville, Erica Ayala and husband, Joe and Shavonne Ayala and husband, Francisco all of Batesville; step children,  Sylvester Silva of Midland, Valora Galloway and husband, George of Barstow California, Babette Silva of San Antonio, Steven Silva and wife, Rosalinda of Uvalde, Anthony Silva and wife, Gabriella of Uvalde, and Robert Silva of San Antonio; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Mireles and Christina Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Jesus Martinez; mother, Consuelo Arredondo; one sister, Dolores Samarippa, two brothers, Jose Martinez and Antonio Martinez; and one great granddaughter, Alexandria Rubio, all of Uvalde.

 Pallbearers will be Mathew Flores, Joseph Ayala, Davian Dominguez, Salvador Perez, Arrlo Silva, and Juan Aiden Sanchez. 

 Honorary Pallbearers will be Felix Rubio, Ezra Dominguez, Joel Ayala, Caleb Castro, Liam Moreno  and Jacob Flores.
