Jesusita "Susie" Fernandez

Jesusita “Susie” S. Fernandez of Uvalde passed away on February 2, 2021 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 72.  She was born on August 28, 1948 in Uvalde to Antonio A. Sanchez and Victoria Lara.

She is survived by her daughters; Rachel Fernandez, Rebecca Gutierrez and husband, Jose Luis, Reana Fernandez and husband, Jesus Garcia, Jr. all of Uvalde and Roseana Fernandez-Zendejas and husband, Alfredo of Woodinville, Washington; sister, Minerva Sanchez and Rosa Rangel both of Uvalde; brother, Luis Sanchez and wife, Estella of Uvalde; grandchildren, Erika Jo Gutierrez, Matthew Joseph Gutierrez, George Arturo Juarez, Nayelli Azul Avila, Julianna Jo Gutierrez, Emilian Jesus Garcia, Elian Antonio David Zendejas, Eva Dolores Zendejas; great granddaughter, Macie Lynn Gutierrez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Placido Fernandez Jr.; sister, Luz Flores; brother, Ruben Flores; and son in law, Pablo Morin.

Visitation will begin on Monday at 2:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Gutierrez, Jesus Garcia Jr., Matthew Joseph Gutierrez, George Arturo Juarez, John Garcia and Roy Torres.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alfredo Zendejas, Emilian Jesus Garcia, Elian Antonio David Zendejas and Arturo Guzman.
