Jewel Atkinson

Jewel Clendening Atkinson of Uvalde passed away on May 13, 2010 in St. Lukes Baptist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 82, following a brief illness. She was born October 2, 1927 in Big Springs, Texas to Carley and Eula Clendening. She married Edwin Atkinson on January 27, 1950, in La Pryor, where they raised their three sons. She is survived by sons Dennis Atkinson and wife, Norma Bob Atkinson and wife, Veronsett and Dean Atkinson and wife, Cindy, all of Uvalde, Texas one brother Carl Clendening and wife, Loma of Waco, Texas nine grandchildren fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband parents one grandson Justin Lee Atkinson one brother, Gordon Hickman and three sisters Marguerite Carlton, Nell Rolls, and Mary Lee Clendening. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Baptist Temple Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Lloyd, Wesley Atkinson, Ramiro Castillon, Richard Castillon, Jr., Jeremy Atkinson, and Kory Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Kite, Jack Scott, and Charley Newman Memorials may be made to Baptist Temple Church 620 E. Main St., Uvalde, Texas 78801.
