Jimmy Ryan

Jimmy Eugene Ryan 71, of Sabinal went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2012. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma September 7th 1940 to J.H. and Ruby Jones Ryan. Jim grew up in South Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth Brod on January 29th 1960.

Jim spent his working years as a teacher, Principal, and Superintendent. He served in the San Isidro, Knippa, Nueces Canyon and Sabinal School Districts. Through the years he served as a mentor and role model to countless students.

He is survived by his wife Liz daughter Lisa Smith, her husband Douglas, their children Ryan and Lauren Smith of San Angelo, Texas daughter Leslie Lester, and her children Brody and Shelby Lester of Bandera, Texas. Sister Linda Jenkins and her husband Wayne of Weatherford, Texas, and Cindy Coleman and her husband Don of Sabinal, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Clark, and soninlaw Bill Lester.

Hobbies and interest were varied and wideranging. Jim was an artist, photographer, actor, scuba diver, pilot, rancher and deputy sheriff. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, studying Native American history, and was a collector of all things dealing with the Texas Rangers.

Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Alzheimers research, church or charity of your choice.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery.
