Joaquin Garcia, Jr.

Joaquin Fuentes Garcia, Jr. of Austin, formerly of Uvalde and Clewiston, Florida passed away on April 12, 2023, at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas at the age of 81.

He was born on June 2, 1941, in Uvalde to Maria Concepcion (Fuentes) and Joaquin Fuentes Garcia, Sr.

He married Rachel Kay Sanchez in Uvalde on September 9, 1956.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years of Austin; three daughters, Mary Rodriguez and husband, Ernesto of West Palm Beach, Florida, Ana Belle Rodriguez and husband, Julio of Jensen Beach, Florida, and Jessica G. Rader and husband, Jason of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two sons, Joaquin Garcia, III and wife, Pei Qian of Austin and Michael Garcia and wife, Mariem of Ripon Wisconsin; three sisters, Diana Castro, Elida Cabral, and Mary Prado all of Uvalde; brother, Guadalupe Garcia of Uvalde; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rachel "Katy" Garcia, son in law, Jose Garcia, sister, Magdelena Garcia; and two brothers, Everado C. Garcia and Jose Luis Vara.

A rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19 at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
