Jody Phillip Tumlinson

On Friday, July 5, 2024, Jody Phillip Tumlinson, loving husband, father, brother, and grandad, passed away at the age of 72.

Jody was born on July 31, 1951, to Jasper Pete and Judith Ruth Tumlinson. He was the youngest of seven kids. 

Jody loved playing football in his high school years as number “35”. After school he joined the Masonic Lodge in Dimmit County. 

Jody worked most of his life in the oil and gas industry. He worked for Galaxy Oil and Gas and later Cabot Oil and Gas before forming his own company, JPT, Inc, until his retirement. He was well respected in his field. 

Jody was preceded in death by his father, Pete and mother Ruth Tumlinson, also by his three sisters, Bella Ruth Walthal of Dallas, Letty; and Emma Lee Tumlinson of Sommerset; and brother, Richard Tumlinson of Victoria.

Jody is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Tumlinson; two daughters, Sember Dee Tumlinson of Boerne, Shey Lyn Geno of Oklahoma City; sister, Wanda Davenport of Boerne, brother, Robert “Bob Tumlinson of Crystal City; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A memorial service will be on August 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
