Joe Ray Patton, 75, of Uvalde died on February 9, 2014 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Moore officiating.
He was born on October 6, 1938 in Sabinal, Texas to Jack and Vera McCaslin Patton. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Utopia, Texas where he spent his childhood and graduated from Utopia High School.
On June 11, 1960 he was united in marriage to Nathalie Campbell, daughter of Wesley N. and Lillian Williams Campbell of Uvalde, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Patton.
He is survived by his wife, Nathalie Patton two daughters, Jody Schwarzlose and husband, Gary, of Spring Branch, Texas and Kathy Vicini and husband, John, of Bryan, Texas three grandchildren, Garlyn Schwarzlose of Dallas, Zane Schwarzlose and wife, Alicia, of Austin, and Tori Schwarzlose of Dallas two brothers, Samuel Patton and wife, Rebecca, of Phoenix, Arizona and Robert Lawrence Patton of New Braunfels, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A highlight of his life included attending the various activities of his grandchildren. He also loved people and enjoyed visiting. He was always helping someone in need, especially young people.
The family would like to thank all who have held him in their prayers for the past several months. Special thanks is given to Bro. Lonnie Moore, Bro. Jim Jackson, members of the First Baptist Church of Uvalde, the Uvalde Hospice, and his loyal caregivers. A special thanks, also, is given to all of the doctors, nurses, and therapists throughout the state who have taken such wonderful care of him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Uvalde Hospice, 1038 Garner Field Road, Uvalde, Texas 78801.
