John Neal Loflin of Uvalde, formerly of Houston, passed away on May 10, 2014 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born on July 12, 1930 in Haynesville, Louisiana to Daniel V. and Maurice Baucum Loflin. After graduating from the University of Texas in 1954 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, he enjoyed a long career in the oil and gas industry as an engineer and in independent exploration. He married his wife of 48 years, Barbara Lee, in Lafayette, Louisiana on July 25, 1965. Together with his family, he enjoyed a lifetime of ranching, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Barbara son, Daniel William Loflin and wife Diane of San Francisco brother, D.V. Loflin Jr. of Monroe, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Loflin Marshall. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Uvalde on Saturday, May 31st at 1:30 pm.
