John, J. B. Wilson of Santa Fe, Texas, formerly of Uvalde, died July 10, 2009. He raised his family in Uvalde and had relocated to live near his son.
John Bruce Wilson was born May 15, 1922 in Lockhart Texas to Mary West Wilson and Arthur L. Wilson of Batesville. He joined the Army Air Force in October of 1942 and proudly served stateside during World War II as a sergeant until February of 1946. On January 24, 1947, he married Ora Lorraine Wilson in Uvalde, Texas. He raised his family at 122 W. Anglin in Uvalde and worked at F. F. Auto Supply until his retirement. J. B. loved spending time outdoors with his family camping, fishing and hunting on the family ranch in Bracketville. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. He especially enjoyed spending time with his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his son, Terry Wilson and wife Julie Wilson of Santa Fe, Texas and by daughter-in-law, Jeanoyce Wilson of Austin; grandchildren: Lorry Wilson Tuttle and husband Patrick of Pflugerville; Ashley Nicole Wilson of San Antonio; Brittany Dawn Wilson and Wesley Wayne Wilson of Santa Fe and great-grandchildren Hanna Rhyan Tuttle and Payton Jenna Tuttle of Pflugerville. Also surviving is his sister Mildred Estelle Wilson Pope and sisters-in-law Mary Etta Skinner, Christine Riddle and Jackie Riddle and numerous nieces and nephews and many family members in areas surrounding San Antonio and Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine Wilson and his oldest son Johnny Ryan Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Carl James Wilson and Clifton Eugene Wilson and his sisters, Elnora Jane Luce and Frances Lucille Postell.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Uvalde. If you choose to send a memorial, the family suggests that they be sent to the Audie Murphy VA Hospital, San Antonio.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Rushing Estes- Knowles Funeral Home in Uvalde, Texas with burial to follow at the Bracketville County Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wesley Wilson, Patrick Tuttle, Jimmy Wilson, David Burger, Lewis Rhodes and Tommy Leonard.
