Johnnie Welch

Johnnie Pearl Welch of Uvalde passed away on April 26, 2011 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. She was born on October 7, 1925 in Ft. Chadbourne, TX to Albert and Anna Patton Gary. Johnnie retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and was a lifetime member of ATT Pioneers. She loved music and dancing, especially the oldtime breakdown music performed by her father, Albert Gary and brothers, J.T. and Wiley Gary, and her husband, Arthur Tootie Allen. Many happy times were spent enjoying that music, whether it was a live performance or playing tapes for each other over the telephone. She is survived by five nephews, Albert Gary and family of Tyler, TX Wiley Gary and family of Marion, TX James Henderson and family of Rockport, TX Jerry Henderson and family of Brownwood, TX and Dennis Gary and family of Uvalde four stepsons, Danny Welch and family Gary Welch and family and Billy Welch and family all of Uvalde and Fred Welch and family of Pasadena and two sistersinlaw, Lois Kramer of Marion, TX and Doris Dolle of New Braunfels, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents first husband, Arthur Allen second husband, Herman Welch two sisters, Opal Brodie and Ruby Henderson three brothers, Hanial Albert Gary, J.T. Gary, and Wiley Gary and two nephews, Douglas Monte Gary and Kenneth Jay Gary. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Paul Stephens will officiate.
