Jose Esparza

Jose “Joe” O. Esparza of Uvalde, Texas passed away on May 24, 2021 at Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 75.  He was born on March 27, 1946 in Uvalde, Texas to Juanita (Occhiline) and Fortunato Esparza. He later went on to work for the City of Uvalde for 41 years before his retirement in 2008. During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.

He is survived his daughters, Mary Ann Esparza Padilla and husband David of San Antonio, Texas, Flora Esparza and partner Erica Garcia of Uvalde, Texas, and Kimberly Benett of Sabinal, Texas; five sons, Joe Esparza Jr. and significant other Angie Garza of Uvalde, Texas, Santos Esparza Sr. and significant other Veronica Gomez of Uvalde, Texas, Charles Esparza of Uvalde, Texas, Bryan Esparza and wife Susan of Uvalde, Texas, and Joey Esparza of Uvalde, Texas; one sister, Yolanda Esparza Flores and husband Freddy of Uvalde, Texas; one brother, Johnny Esparza and wife Tressa of Sonora, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by  his parents, Juanita (Occhiline) and Fortunato Esparza; sisters, Francis O. Gomez, Antonia Esparza, Margarita Esparza, and Seferina Esparza; and brothers, Librado Esparza and Fortunato Esparza Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26,2021 at 12:00PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Joe Esparza Jr., Santos Esparza Sr., Librado Esparza Jr., Jesse Esparza, Samuel Ramos, Ray Gonzalez, and Ramiro Gonzalez.
