Jose Reyes, Jr., 75, passed away suddenly in Uvalde on Sunday, October 25, 2020. He was born on August 6, 1945 in Bishop County, TX to Evangelina and Jose Reyes, Sr. He married Frances Guadalupe Reyes on June 23, 1963 surrounded by family and friends in Uvalde, Tx, and were married for 57 years.
He was the second of twelve children and the oldest son. At a young age he learned what it was to work hard on the South Texas soil. Building fence lines, working with livestock or fixing equipment in the hot sun can be brutal but it’s all he knew and what he truly loved. When not on the ranch, he was happiest spending time with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and most recently, his great granddaughter. Being able to smile and brag about their accomplishments was what really gave him purpose and kept him going. He took any opportunity to share this joy and bring a laugh or smile to your face.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Reyes of Uvalde; daughters Joann Reyes, and Dolores and husband Joe Cabralez of Uvalde; six sisters, Eloisa Rodriguez, Alma Reyes, Melba Castillo, Sylvia and husband Manuel Ramirez, Rebecca and husband Mario Flores of Uvalde, Antonia and husband Manuel Pena of Spofford, TX; four brothers Daniel Reyes, Ruben Reyes and wife Gloria of Uvalde, Domingo Reyes and Raymundo Reyes and wife rosa of Del Rio; four grandchildren, Joe Paul Cabralez of Houston, Jacqueline Gabrielle Cabralez of San Diego, CA, Teresa Marie Cabralez, and Jacob Cabralez and girlfriend Gabby Rodriguez of Uvalde; one great grandchild, Kaisley Isabella Cabralez.
He was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Arturo Reyes; and one son, Jose Reyes III.
