Jose Rojas Sr.

Jose Pilar Rojas Sr. of La Pryor passed away on January 3, 2009 at his residence in La Pryor, Texas at the age of 85. He was born on February 21, 1923 in Azarco Durango, Mexico to Ignacio and Alejandra Rojas. He married Marcelina Gramillo on March 10, 1943 in Ignacio Allende, Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcelina Rojas of La Pryor, Texas; one daughter; Maria Del Socorro Rojas of La Pryor, Texas; five sons; Ignacio Rojas and wife, Maria Guadalupe; Jose Francisco Rojas Jr.; Jorge Luis Rojas and wife, Gloria; and Juan Jose Rojas and wife, Anna all of La Pryor, Texas; and Gilberto Rojas and wife, Elena of Garland, Texas; one sister; Josefina Rojas of Los Angeles, California; twenty-eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; Consuelo Rojas; and one daughter-in-law Olga Rojas. A rosary will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Funeral services will be on January 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St. Josephs Catholic Church in La Pryor, Texas with burial to follow in La Pryor Cemetery. Father Anthony Mendoza will be officiating.
