Joseph Welch, Sr.

Joseph Edward Welch Sr., 58, of Uvalde, formerly of San Antonio, died Aug. 30, 2010, at LifeCare Hospital in San Antonio.

A memorial Mass will be held today at 4 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Wieslaw Ivaniec officiating.

Welch was born Nov. 5, 1951, in San Antonio, to Julian and Elvira Welch.

He married Kay Kothmann Taylor on June 6, 1987, in San Antonio.

Welch was the owner of JW Air Parts and was employed with T.D. Industries in San Antonio.

After moving to Uvalde he was employed with Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in the Central Office.

Welch was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years two brothers, Julian Welch and wife, Jannalyn, of San Antonio and Gardner Welch of Tucson, Ariz. two sisters, Diana Stowe and husband, Ron, of Boerne and Bernadine Carter and husband, Rob, of San Antonio one son, Joseph Edward Joey Welch Jr. and wife, Lindsey, of La Vernia two daughters, Laura Randall and husband, Blake, of Lakeway and Ellen Swanson and husband, Zach, of Boston, Mass. two grandchildren, Atleigh Welch and Joseph Edward Trey Welch III, both of La Vernia his motherinlaw, Nell Kothmann of Uvalde and numerous inlaws, nieces and nephews.

A rosary was said yesterday at 7 p.m. at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary.
