Juan M. Garcia Sr. of Uvalde passed away on February 27, 2011 in Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 63. He was born on May 2, 1947 in Cotulla, Texas to Alberto and Wencesleda Martinez Garcia. He married Estella Ramos on February 26, 1969 in Batesville, Texas. He entered the Army December 20, 1966. He served in the Company A 2nd Battalion 11th infantry of the U.S. Army and was a Sergeant during the Korean War. He also owned and operated Texas Smoker BBQ Pits in Uvalde, Texas for 18 years. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Estella R. Garcia of Uvalde, Texas one daughter Cecilia G. Garcia and husband, Thomas N. of Uvalde, Texas one son Juan R. Garcia Jr. and wife, Lilia of Uvalde, Texas one sister Petra Lopez and husband, Sam of Steger, Illinois two brothers Alberto Garcia Jr, of Chicago Heights, Illinois and Samuel Garcia and wife, Angie of Uvalde, Texas three granddaughters Alexandra Flores, Linda Flores, and Justine Garcia five grandsons Ruben G. Lopez III, Jon Roy Garcia, Thomas Bryan Garcia, Juan Garcia III, and Jonathon Garcia one great granddaughter Natalie Rodriguez numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers Luis Garcia and Raul Garcia. A rosary will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 PM at RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ruben G. Lopez III, Jon Roy Garcia, Tomas N. Garcia, Roman Hernandez, Harry Luna, Harry Luna Jr., Sam Lopez, and Ramiro Ramos. Honorary pallbearers will be Isidro Galvan and Ricardo Mares.
