Juan M. Hernandez, Sr., age 73, of Uvalde passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He was born January 28, 1945 in Uvalde to Maria G. Mata and Juan Lopez Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lally Hernandez; one son, Juan Manuel Hernandez, Jr. and wife Lydia of Uvalde; three daughters, Mary Rose Sanchez and husband Martin of Bandera; and Annette Briseno and husband, Tony ; and Jo Anne Serna and husband, Everardo "Eddie" all of Uvalde; twenty-one grandchildren twenty-nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Hernandez and wife, Lilly of Houston; Fernando Hernandez and wife, Sally of Cleburne; and Logario Hernandez and wife, Hilda of Houston; aunts, Maime Carbajal of Amarillo and Susie Robles of Uvalde; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Antonio "AJ" Briseno, Jr.; and two sisters, Carmen Espinoza and Rose Bustamante. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at 10:00 AM with burial following in Uvalde Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Brandi Reyes, Juan Jose Reyes, Naomi Hernandez, Justin Hernandez, Juan Manuel Hernandez III, Andrain Santos Briseno, Jarrod Maples, and Marco Antonio Rangel III. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Vasquez and X'Zayden Gomez.
