Juan Jose Hurtado, Sr.

Juan Jose Hurtado, Sr. of Uvalde passed away on June 6, 2023, at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 57.

He was born on October 7, 1965, in Uvalde Texas to Ernestina (Gonzales) and Salvador Hurtado, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Erica Juarez Hurtado of Uvalde; four daughters, Samantha Hurtado, Briana Hurtado, both of Uvalde, Aileen Cabralez and Sandy Hurtado both of San Antonio; two sons, Juan Jose Hurtado and wife, Jasmine Castro and Christopher Hurtado all of Uvalde; two sisters, Elena Hurtado and spouse Jose Luis Rodriguez, and Estella Salazar both of San Antonio; two brothers, Salvador Hurtado, Jr., and Jose Luis Hurtado both of Uvalde; six grandchildren, Annalisia Gomez, Sophia Gomez, Isaiah Gomez, Chelsea Gomez, Jennifer Hernandez, and Mark Adam Arriola and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Uvalde Catholic Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Joe Fabian Salazar, Fabian Jay Salazar, Jose Luis Hurtado, III, Jose Luis Vasquez, Earl Thomas Salazar, and Rolando Victorino, Jr.
