Juan Longoria

Juan P. Longoria of La Pryor passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 91.

Juan was born on September 3, 1928 in Llera, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Lucas and Maria Desideria (Puga) Longoria.

He married Hermelinda Cruz on April 26, 1957 in Pharr, Texas.

Juan lived in Hereford, Texas for 46 years. He worked at Holly Sugar in Hereford where he retired after 30 years.  He became a resident of La Pryor in 2009 till his death.

Mr. Longoria was a devout Pentecostal Christian, who loved God with all his heart.  He loved going to church to praise and worship the Lord.  He attended several churches like Templo Dios Es Amor in La Pryor  before it closed its doors, then Lighthouse Church of Carrizo Springs for 5 years before settling at Templo Getsemani in La Pryor.

He is survived by five daughters, Maria Lopez of Hereford, Eva Lopez of La Pryor, Esmeralda Longoria of Vinita, Oklahoma and America L. Cruz of Dumas, Texas; two sons, Johnny Longoria of Odessa and Hector Longoria of Lubbock; sister Marcelina Pena of Mexico; 31 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Juan was preceded in death by his wife, Hermelinda Cruz Longoria and daughter, Hermelinda L. Mojica; two sons, Israel Longoria and Lucas Longoria and his parents.

Visitation will be start on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 12:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 am at La Pryor Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Perez, Tirso Lopez, Miguel Lopez, Manuel Perez, Lucas Lopez, Abel Longoria, Misael Longoria and Hector Marquez Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Noah Longoria, Pablo Lopez, Tirso D. Lopez, Johnny Longoria Jr., Hector Longoria and Ruben Luke Lopez

*100-person maximum can be accommodated at the funeral chapel at a time for Visitation. Upon entering the funeral home, requirements are that social distancing of 6’ feet is practiced as well as a mask to be worn for every person in the building.
