Juan Luis Del Toro of Uvalde passed away on August 1, 2015 in San Antonio at the age of 62. He was born on September 16, 1952 in Uvalde to Petra (Flores) and Luis F. Del Toro, Jr. He was a 1971 graduate of La Pryor High School, and he attended SWTJC for two years. He married his high school sweetheart, Maria Luisa Ayala, on June 22, 1974. He worked at Continental Test Track in Uvalde as a driver for many years, and as a teachers aide at the La Pryor schools. He also worked for RKW Pipe in Uvalde for several years. Formerly of La Pryor, he moved to Uvalde in 2002. He was always joking, ready for any social functions and a cold beer. His nicknames were "Bichin" and "La Bala". He is survived by his mother, Petra Del Toro of Uvalde; two sons, Greg Del Toro and Erik Del Toro and wife, Rosario, all of La Pryor; four sisters, Maggie Del Toro and Maria Del Toro, both of Uvalde; Marta Del Toro of Austin; and Blanca E. Saldivar and husband, Rogelio of La Pryor; three granddaughters, Alina Marie Del Toro; Aliya Marie Del Toro; and Eliana Blanca Del Toro, all of La Pryor; ex-wife, Maria Luisa Del Toro of La Pryor; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Javier Del Toro. A rosary will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 and Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in La Pryor with burial following in La Pryor Cemetery. Fr. Gustavo Ortega will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Flores, Manuel Flores, Rogelio Saldivar, Martin Flores, David Martinez, and Gary Perez.
