June Hawkes

June Willis Hawkes of Sabinal passed away on February 14, 2021 at her residence in Sabinal, Texas at the age of 87.  She was born on June 3, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to Margaret (Kerwin) and James C. Willis Jr.

June married Jerald "Mike" John Hawkes on November 2, 1955 in Shrub Oak, New York, they then moved to Sabinal, Texas where June started working at Sabinal State Bank, later sitting on the board of directors and becoming the Vice President.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerald "Mike" John Hawkes; and parents Margaret (Kerwin) and James C. Willis Jr.

She is survived her three sons, Michael and wife Jeanine of Sabinal, Dudley and wife Kirsten of Huntsville, and Roger of Houston; 8 grandchild, and 11 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on April 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sabinal Cemetery.

Cremation is under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
