JW Dub Stewart of Uvalde entered into Gods promise of eternal peace on December 11, 2013 at his residence. JW was born March 10, 1938, in Booneville, Arkansas to Willie Richard and Norma Ruth Baucum Stewart. He was the third of 3 boys born to this union. JW is survived by both older brothers, Gene Stewart Carolyn of Murphy TX and Jimmie Paul Stewart Wilma of McCloud, OK.
JW joined the Air Force and served 4 years active service. While on leave visiting his parents in Booneville, he met Betty Jo. They both fell head over heels, hard, for each other and were married August 15, 1958. Until death ended their relationship, it was usual, if you saw one, the other wasnt far away. Usually holding hands or exchanging private, knowing glances, they were incredibly close.
Immediately after his discharge from the AF, he enrolled graduated from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas with a BS in Biology. Teaching in the public school system in Missouri quickly taught him a lesson go back to school and get that Masters degree, which he did at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. A PhD in Entomology from Texas AM in 1973 was followed by accepting a position as Area Specialist, Entomology, for 22 counties, stationed in Uvalde. This was a position he held until he retired in 1995.
Dub is survived by his beloved wife of over 55 years, Betty Jo Stewart, 2 children, Kim of Lubbock and Eddie of Uvalde. Also surviving are 5 adorable grandchildren, Autumn Brook Hurst J.R. of Pearsall, Sunnie Stewart Odessa, TX, Sarah Plavets Henry of San Antonio, Edward Jordan Wade Stewart Pearsall and Lanie Stewart Lubbock. Two great grandchildren complete the lineage of Dub and Betty Jo, a great grandson, Weston Lynn Hurst and great granddaughter, Zailey Brooke Hurst.
Dub was a member of the Lords Church since a youth. He not only talked the talk, he walked the walk. His remains will be cremated and, at the appropriate time, united with those of his beloved Betty Jo and taken for interment to Booneville, AR.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday December 16, 2013 at 2PM at the Getty Street Church of Christ in Uvalde.
