Kara Linda Claxton, of Midland and Utopia, Texas, earned her wings on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was born on October 1, 1972, to Barbara (Lee) and Weldon Claxton.

Kara began attending Bynum School at the age of 14 and continued until her passing. During her time there, she dedicated herself to various community service efforts, including volunteering at Meals on Wheels and the West Texas Food Bank. She also worked on campus, contributing to the garden and ceramics studio.

Kara, being a faithful servant,found joy in worshiping at both Mid Cities Church in Midland and Living Waters Church in Utopia, Texas. In her early adulthood, she participated in Special Olympics Texas, where she earned numerous medals and accolades. She was also proud to be chosen as the AT&T Billboard Athlete in the 1990s.

Known for her kindness and infectious spirit, Kara touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a unique ability to make friends with anyone, regardless of background or circumstances. Her genuine love for others was felt deeply by all who knew her.

Kara is survived by her parents, Barbara and Weldon Claxton; her siblings, Tracy Bush (Ross), Tory Gardner (Reggie), and Ryan Claxton (Kasey); as well as her nieces and nephews, Jason Bush, Emily Gardner, Jade Isbell, Rylan Gardner, Brice Claxton, and Jace Claxton.She is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arlena and Lewis Claxton, Orabelle and H.P. Lee; as well as her niece, Ashlyn Gardner, and her nephew, Jaret Bush.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. ,followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Living Waters Church in Utopia Texas. 

Burial will take place at Jones Cemetery. A memorial celebration will also take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Bynum School, 5100 Avalon Dr, Midland TX.
