Katherine Anthon Collins passed peacefully into eternity on September 20, 2013, at her home in Uvalde, Texas. She was 90 years old.
Mrs. Collins was born in Uvalde, Texas to John and Margaret Edmonds Anthon on March 17, 1923. She grew up in Uvalde on her parents dairy farm. She graduated from Uvalde High School in 1940 and Mary Hardin Baylor University in 1944 with a Bachelor degree in Music Education. She married Jack Forbes Collins on August 7, 1948 in Uvalde, Texas.
Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Jack who died in 2010 and brother, Gerald Wayne Anthon who died in 1953.
She is survived by her sister, Johnnie Mae Proctor, and sons, Ronnie Collins and Dennis Collins of Uvalde, Texas and daughter Connie Collins of Kerrville, Texas. She is survived by grandchildren, Amanda Jane Collins, Jack Anthon Collins and Bonnie Kay Collins, children of Ronnie Collins and Adam Dwayne Collins and Chevy Wayne Collins, children of Dennis Collins. She is also survived by greatgrandchildren, Anthon Miles and William Grant Collins, sons of Jack Anthon Collins and Chevy Clayton and Cash Wayne sons of Adam Collins.
Mrs. Collins was known for her smiling brown eyes and rich voice that proved her ability as a talented musician and Christian leader. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Uvalde and choir where she sang and played the piano for the childrens choir for many years. She was happynatured, gracious, dependable and the embodiment of culture and generosity. A classmate of Mrs. Collins wrote in her college yearbook the following words: If you give to the rest of the world what you have given here at Mary Harden Baylor, the people in it have a very enjoyable future awaiting them. And so she did and will be greatly missed by all of us.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 27th at 1 pm at First Baptist Church in Uvalde, Texas.
