Kathy Lynn Grelle passed away unexpectedly at home on August 8, 2018 in La Pryor at the age of 68. She was born on October 17, 1949 in Downs, Kansas to Kenneth and Mildred (Ireland) Watts. She married her best friend and soul mate, Bryan Grelle, on September 16, 1968.
Kathy lived her life full of love for her family, her friends and her work. She was an incredibly strong yet humble woman who believed in the people she loved and cared about. She was a rock to many, a confidant, a cheerleader and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother "Nana", and friend. She worked hard to have an impact on the world around her- to make the lives of the people she loved or served better in whatever small or large way she could, every day. She was gracious and generous with her time, her love and her advice- and also had a no-nonsense way of looking at things. Kathy always had a quote or adage that was perfect for every occasion and would tell her grieving family and friends now that "this too, shall pass". The love and gratitude of the many people whose lives she touched and enriched will not pass, however.
Kathy is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Bryan, who lives in La Pryor. She is also survived by her parents Kenneth & Millie Watts of Downs, Kansas; daughters Teri Bilby and husband Stephen of San Antonio, Lesli Grelle of La Pryor; sons Todd Grelle of La Pryor and Mike Grelle of McAllen; 9 grandchildren, Kirsten Lee, Alexandra Grelle, Erynn Grelle, Trey Grelle, Xaden Grelle, Austin Grelle, Addyson Bilby, Ryder Bilby and Haven Grelle; sisters, Sherry Knouf of Downs, Kansas and Michelle Hartman of Wichita, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will begin on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at La Pryor Cemetery with a memorial reception held immediately after at the Rushing Estes Knowles Funeral Home.
