Kittie Jane Speer of Rio Frio, Texas passed away on January 1, 2022 at her residence at the age of 76. She was born on November 4, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to Walter and Kittie Maude (Wood) Bankier.
She was 1963 graduate of Uvalde High School. In 1966 she married Edmond Speer from La Pryor, Tx in Rapid City South Dakota where he was serving in the Untied States Air Force. They and their 2 children moved back to Uvalde where she helped her father working on their ranch. She cared for her father until his death in 1976. They then moved to Boerne where she helped her husband in their pipe business and she cared for her mother until her death in 1983. They returned to Uvalde area and she helped operated their propane business until her retirement in 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Missie Speer- McDonald of Katy, Texas; son, Robert Carroll Speer and wife, Lori of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Alicia Oakley of Uvalde; grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Speer and girlfriend, Karlei Johnston, Darrin Thaden, Hunter McDonald, Heather McDonald, Nikki Camarano and husband, Joseph and Carlye Speer; great granddaughter, Isabella Grace Speer; brother in laws, Pete Speer of Uvalde, Texas and Garland Speer and wife, Frances of Brookshire, Texas; and sister in law, Sarah Speer of Cometa, Texas
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother in laws, Bob Oakley; Homer Speer and wife, Nita, and Ralph Speer and sister in law, Robbie Speer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Uvalde, Texas. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronny Speer, Jeffrey Speer, Jerry Speer, Skip Masar, Jeremy Shaw, and Clint Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Speer, Bobby Speer, Sam Speer, Quatro Oakley, & St. Clair Missouri McDonald’s Coffee Club.
