Larry Don Allen, 65, passed away January 15, 2010 in his home in Cline, TX. He was born February 2, 1944 at the Harris Ranch in Cline, and he will be laid to rest in the J. A. Sparks Memorial Cemetery at Cline.
Although he worked most of his life in the mining industry, he began as a cowboy and ranch hand working cattle from horseback, and that work remained a lifelong pleasure. For all who knew him, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and devotion to family.
On August 14, 1960, he married Faye Sparks, his wife of 49 12 years. They had four sons and four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Doodle four sons, Houston Royce Allen of Cline, Anthony Don Allen and wife Sharon of Pearsall, John Brent Allen and wife Laurie of Crestview, FL, and Larry Joseph Allen of Harper four grandchildren, John Cody Sparks, Samuel Slade, Larry Houston, and Dorothy Faye four brothers, Hubert Allen of Paris, TX, Willard Allen of Spring Branch, Sam Allen of Carrizo Springs, Andrew Allen of Bay City and a sister, Ruth Wilkins of Devine.
He is preceded in death by parents Sam Houston and Grace Montgomery Allen of Uvalde, TX and two sisters, Mary Francis Elder and Nadine Bluemel.
Services will be held Monday, January 18, at 10am at the RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary in Uvalde, followed by a graveside service at the J.A. Sparks Memorial Cemetery in Cline, 18 miles west of Uvalde. A viewing will be held at RushingEstesKnowles on Sunday, January 17, from 9am to 8pm.
