Doctor Lawrence Patrick (LP) Wegrzyn, 34, passed away October 16, 2019, surrounded by family at home in Uvalde. LP was born on April 2, 1985, in Denver to Lawrence and Eileen (Healy) Wegrzyn. He married Alexandra Tarski on July 7, 2007, in Uvalde. LP graduated from Broomfield High School in 2003. He went to Regis University in Denver and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. While in college, he met Alexandra. After getting married in Texas, they went back to Denver to pursue additional education. The couple was blessed with their first daughter, Olivia Josephine, in 2010. LP graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2011. The family moved next to Corpus Christi, where LP completed his residency at Christus Spohn Hospital. They welcomed a second daughter, Charlotte Bea in 2012. They all enjoyed the many activities that come with living near the water, but LP enjoyed them most of all. He found time to fish as often as possible and frequently took his young daughters with him. In 2014, LP completed his residency program and the Wegrzyn family moved to Uvalde, where LP got to live out his dream of practicing family medicine. The couple had their third daughter, Angelina Ruth, in 2015. The Wegrzyn family, now complete, quickly became an integral part of the Uvalde community. LP was an incredible physician and cared so much about each of his patients. He felt extremely blessed to be able to become the owner of Uvalde Family Practice in 2016. He became known to many families in the community as a source of comfort and peace during times of illness and loss. There was no part of his job he didn’t enjoy but his true professional calling was delivering babies. You can see the joy in his face in every photo he took with a mother and child. An avid and active outdoorsman his whole life, LP and his brother, Kevin, grew up together fishing, snow skiing, water skiing, and scuba diving. He also enjoyed traveling and went on some amazing trips with his beautiful wife. While living in Texas, he found a love for hunting. Often, he enjoyed going out at dusk with his brothers- and father-in-law. He frequently took his daughters out to the ranch to spark their love of the outdoors. A wonderful husband, father, and brother, LP was also a fantastic friend. His presence will be truly missed to everyone who knew him and loved him. LP is survived by his parents; his wife; his three daughters; a brother, Kevin Wegrzyn and wife, Ali, of Durango, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth McArthur and husband, Paul, of San Antonio, Caroline Lauber and husband, Benjamin, of La Grange, and Margaret Rodríguez and husband, Christopher, of Uvalde; his parents-in-law, Paul and Anne Tarski of Uvalde; three nephews, Boyd Wegrzyn, Beau Lauber and Jameson Rodriguez; and one niece, Winnie Wegrzyn. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lawrence J. Wegrzyn, Bernice “Bea” Wegrzyn Antolec, Joseph Antolec, John J. Healy, Evelyn Murphy Healy; his aunt and godmother, Laureen Wegrzyn Jay; and a cousin, Eric J. Cecil. The visitation and rosary were held at 7 p.m. on October 18, 2019, at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on October 19, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Wegrzyn, LP’s brother, who drove the hearse to the church and burial; LP’s brothers-in-law; and LP’s friends, Stephen Sutphin, Brian Cavanaugh, James Gradey and John Scheid.
