Leandro Esparza

Leandro Ortiz Esparza, passed away on June 2, 2023, at the age of 91. He was residing in Amistad Nursing Home during his final days.

Born on February 26, 1932, in Uvalde, Texas to Lazaro & Eluteria (Ortiz) Esparza.

He was married to Josefa Marin on March 28, 1954.

Leandro is survived by his wife of 69 years of Uvalde; daughter, Leticia Risa (Rosemberg) of Uvalde, Texas, sons, Leandro Esparza, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Jaime Esparza (Cynthia) of Austin, Texas, daughters-in-law, Maria Elena Esparza of McAllen, Texas and Maria Esparza of Uvalde, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his sons; Gregorio Esparza, Gerardo (Jerry) Esparza, Gilbert Esparza and Javier Esparza; sisters, Juanita Lopez, Alicia Cuellar, Aurora Garza, Amparo Aviles, Amelia Alvarado, brothers, Edmundo Almendarez and Pedro Almendarez.

Pallbearers will be Rosemberg Risa, Jaime Esparza, Guillermo Esparza, Javier Esparza, Jr, Leandro Esparza, Jr., and Ismael Quijano.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 2 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
