Lenore Horner

Lenore Pulliam Horner of Uvalde was called home by her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2013, at the age of 98 years.

Lenore was born in Uvalde on July 26, 1914. Her parents were Fred J Horner, Sr. and Lenore Pulliam Horner, both of whom were from Uvalde County pioneer families.

Affectionately known as Sis, Lenore graduated from Uvalde High School and Baylor University. She worked for Kimballs Warehouse Grocery for 25 years. Lenore was associated with Uvalde Public Schools for 25 years as a bookkeeper in the central office and as a sixth grade and high school VOE teacher. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a member in the Womens Missionary Union. She enjoyed travelling and gardening and was known for making delicious pecan pralines.

Lenore was preceded in death by her parents her oldest brother, Fred Jr. and her twin brother, Needham sistersinlaw Avie D. Horner and Ruby Horner and nephew, Fred Horner, III. Survivors include her youngest brother, George Horner and her sisterinlaw, Marie Horner. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Sally Horner Kibbe and husband, Dan David Horner and wife, Carol J Miles Horner and wife, Cynthia Louise Horner Hundahl and husband, Ernest Nancy Horner Feely and husband, Chuck George Horner Jr. and wife, Suzanne Alan Horner and wife, Jan Kathy Horner Wright and husband, Jim and Linda Horner Moore and husband, Robert. Miss Horner is survived by 13 greatnieces and nephews and 9 greatgreat nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her godchild, Toni K. Collins.

A service celebrating her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Uvalde on Thursday, February, 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Uvalde Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Cook, Charles Ham, Bill Ed Kolinek, Bobby Kramer, Warren Neill, and Greg Visel.
