Leocadia C. Garza

Leocadia C. Garza, age 89, of Batesville, Texas, passed away at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

A visitation to honor her life will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m.  with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Batesville, with interment to follow at Batesville Cemetery.

Leocadia was born on March 15, 1935, in Charlotte, Texas, to Genoveva (Alvarado) and Sixto Camacho. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Genoveva Vela of Uvalde; her sons, George Garza of San Antonio and Armando Garza of Batesville; her sisters, Clemencia Villarreal and Lile Gallegos, both of San Antonio;; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Leocadia is preceded in death by her devoted parents, her beloved husband Jose A. Garza, two sons, Gilbert Garza and John Garza, her two daughters, Alamar G. Campos and Lupe G. Trevino; sister, Raymunda Briseno; and four brothers, Fortunato Camacho, Mercedes Camacho, Octaviano Camacho, and Leopoldo Camacho.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Hugo Garza, Lauro Garza Jr., Leo Trevino, Joe Trevino and Juan Mirelez Jr. and Richard Vela Jr. 

Her life was a testament to love and family, and she will be deeply missed.
