Leon Douglas Walton of Uvalde passed away on April 9, 2014 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 86. He was born on September 22, 1927 in Abilene, TX to Rector and Annie Brashier Walton. His family moved to Del Rio when he was two years old. He grew up there and graduated from Del Rio High School in 1945. He then attended HardinSimmons University in Abilene, TX and graduated in 1949. He coached and taught Science for four years. He married Lylian Ballenger in Council Bluffs, IA on December 24, 1950. They moved to their farm on Hacienda Road in 1952 and stayed there the rest of their lives. Lylian preceded him in death in 1984. He was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Uvalde. He is survived by a soninlaw, Jeff Kurtz and wife, Linda of Plano, TX two grandsons, Jonathan Kurtz and Stephen Kurtz two nephews, Jack Walton and Richard Dick Walton two greatnephews, Richard Walton and Brad Walton and greatniece, Kristin Walton. He was preceded in death by his parents wife daughter, Susan Kurtz and brother, Rector Walton, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Homer Hanna will officiate assisted by Rev. Lonnie Moore and Rev. Jim Jackson. Pallbearers will be R.B. Bob Willoughby, Jr. Art Sutton Robert Bob Zaiglin Bill McWhorter Bill Holloway and Tim Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Todo Myane and Ed ONeal.
