The family of Lilla Lee Mayes Rose will miss her until they are reunited with her in Heaven and celebrate the love and joy she shared with them during her life on Earth.
Lilla Lee Mayes Rose was born in Rocksprings, Texas on April 21, 1934 to Albert Eugene Mayes and Ima Thurman Mayes. She passed away on November 3, 2109 at the age of 85.
She married James David Rose on June 23, 1956 and together raised three children: James David Jr, Kyle Mayes, and Marla Lee. She loved her role as a rancher’s wife and her life was fulfilled by caring for and loving her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Always the gracious hostess, she made sure all guests were offered a refreshing beverage, food and a place to sit. This was important to her even in the final years. She had a flair for art and loved painting. Many of her loved ones are proud to have one of her special works of art.
Lilla was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Rose, sister Imogene Gentry, Sister Alice Jane Rogers, and brother Jack Mayes.
She is survived by her three children: James David Rose, Jr. (wife Cathy), Kyle Mayes Rose (wife Sue Ann), and Marla Lee Schaefer (husband Alton). Six grandchildren: Charlotte Schexnider (spouse Joshua), James David Rose III, Brian Rose (spouse Devin), Charles Rose, Brandon Schaefer and Allison Schaefer. Three great-grandchildren: Tyanna Zapata, Roy Schexnider, and Jason Rose. Nephew, Gene Mayes and great-nephew, Will Welch.
Service to be held at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Brandon Schaefer, Brian Rose, Charles Rose, Joshua Schexnider, Roy Schexnider and Roy Kothmann. Honorary pallbearers: David Rose, Kyle Rose, Alton Schaefer, Bill Livingston, Lenard Poehler, Gene Mayes, Ray Melton, and Malcolm Richey.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of Christ in Uvalde, Texas where Lilla celebrated her faith and love of the Lord.
