Lois Worth

Lois Helen Worth of Uvalde passed away on December 20, 2011 at Uvalde Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 89. She was born on April 8, 1922 in Premont, TX to John and Augusta Suhrbier Mertens. She married Glenn George Gillette in 1945, moving to Iowa and later Wyoming. In 1973, she returned to Texas where she met and married G.W. Worth of Uvalde. He preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Gillette of Uvalde son, Glenn Gillette and wife, Shirley of Fromberg, Montana four grandchildren fourteen greatgrandchildren one greatgreatgrandchild sisterinlaw, Jackie Gissel and husband, Dick of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. In addition to being a homemaker in the true sense of the word, Lois also had a career as a telephone operator, retiring from Southwestern BellATT in 1977. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. James Ham will officiate.
