Lon Felts Jr. of Uvalde passed away on January 17, 2011 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, Texas at the age of 75. He was born on a ranch in Edwards County, Texas on June 11, 1935 to Lon and Lillie Wallace Felts. He married Cora Carter on July 1, 1960 in Campwood, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cora Felts of Uvalde, Texas daughter Cora Lynn Jasso and husband Jesus of San Antonio, Texas son Lon C. Felts and wife Melissa of San Angelo, Texas two brothers, Phillip Felts and wife Barbara of Lytle, Texas and William Felts of Abilene, Texas four grandsons Hayden Felts of San Angelo, Texas David Westmeyer of San Antonio, Texas Nathan Westmeyer of Uvalde, Texas and Ian Westmeyer of Uvalde, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Ward and Lois Hall. He played football in high school and graduated from Barksdale High School in 1954. He had a great time at Texas A I in Kingsville for one semester. In the Army, he served as a paratrooper. For a while he was a trapper and after moving to Lytle trained race horses and raised cattle. In 1996, he moved to Uvalde and raised Boer goats and Dorper sheep. His greatest joy was teaching his son and later a grandson to hunt and to love outdoor life. He will be missed by his family and many very loyal friends. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Baptist Temple in Uvalde, Texas. Burial will be in Barksdale Cemetery, Barksdale, Texas at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 20, 2011. The family suggests memorials be made to Baptist Temple Church Youth Camp Fund or to Pregnancy Care Center, 8131 IH 10 West Suite 125, San Antonio, Texas 78230.
