Lonnie Meyer passed away on November 29, 2012, at the age of 97. He was born on October 23, 1915, in the Harmon Community in Coryell county to the late Henry and Louise Bohm Meyer. In 1939, he settled in Knippa, Texas, and began pursuing his passion of farming and tending to his livestock that he continued doing until well past his 96th birthday. On December 24, 1939, he married Theresia Hildegarde Lehmann in Temple, Texas. His beloved wife preceded him in death in 1995.
He is survived by a son Glenn Meyer of Knippa, numerous nephews and nieces whom he cherished, other loving relatives, and many treasured friends.
Lonnie was preceded in death by three sisters: Elsie Schulze, Rosie Meyers, and Florine Robinett by six brothers: Fritz, Willie, Ed, Alvin, Bennie, and Alfred.
Lonnie loved the Lord and his family. He often said, Why would anyone want to live any place other than Knippa He believed in working long and hard. In his earlier life, he held various positions in the church. He took pride in being selfsufficient. Always optimistic, he would say, We are living in the best of times.
Pallbearers are Carl Muecke Jr., Randy Muecke, Travis Muecke, Leland Falkenberg, Charlie Newman, and Louis Dickie.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Muecke Sr., Milton Woolf, and Merrel Kjozen.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Saturday, December 1, at Rushing Estes Knowles Funeral Home in Uvalde with Pastor Donald Olson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Knippa Cemetery in Knippa, Texas.
