Loretta Ellen Mesko passed away on May 10, 2013 in Uvalde at the age of 91. She was born on November 11, 1921 in Bernice, PA. She married John Mesko on May 27, 1942 in Midland, PA.
She is survived by her children, Eric Joseph Mesko of Ferndale, MI Emil Louis Mesko and wife, Andrea Elaine Mesko nee: Brumana of Paso Robles, CA and her son, Robert A.H. Oxford and wife, Jennifer Lee Oxford nee: Coelho and their son, Christopher Brian Oxford John Jay Mesko and wife, Patricia E. Mesko nee: McDonald of Fort Gratiot, MI and their children, Matthew John Mesko, Captain, U.S. Army Special Forces and wife, Caroline Rim Mesko nee: Rim, and their son, Asher John Mesko Amy Elizabeth Pelletier nee: Mesko and husband, Craig Allan Pelletier and their daughters, Ava Elizabeth Pelletier and Evelyn Rose Pelletier Jeffrey Alan Mesko and wife, Lisa Marie Mesko DC nee: Lobbestael Michael Peter Mesko and wife, Paula Ruth Mesko nee: Gilbert of Austin, TX Francis John Mesko and wife, Mary Evelyn Mesko nee: Trejo of San Antonio and their children, Harrison John Mesko, Stephen Antonio Mesko and Frances Evelyn Mesko. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Andrew Mesko, and her husband, John Mesko.
Loretta was living in Midland, PA when she met John Mesko who became her husband and the love of her life. During his 30 year Marine Corps career they shared together, they raised six sons. Shortly after his retirement from the Marine Corps they moved to Uvalde where she returned to college, earned her teaching degree, and taught for 20 years.
Loretta was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Uvalde where she was active in the 9:30 Church Choir as well as The Catholic Womans Club. She retired from a teaching career in The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District. She had several hobbies one of which was quilting with a local group. A Western quilt made by this group, was donated and is on display in the Uvalde Library. She was an avid lifetime baseball fan with a special room in her home set up as a minimuseum full of 50 years of professional baseball memorabilia.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 PM at RushingEstesKnowles Mortuary, Inc., 220 S. Getty, Uvalde, Texas 78801. The family will greet guests from 5:007:00 PM. Refreshments will be served in the RushingEstesKnowles Family Center from 5:007:00 PM. Burial will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Praha, Texas.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of ones choice.
