Luis Herrera

Luis Herrera of Sabinal passed away on February 9, 2018 at Amistad Nursing Home in Uvalde at the age of 97. He was born on February 29, 1920 in Jimenez, Coahuila, Mexico to Luis Herrera and Macaria Vasquez. He married Adelina Cortez in Mexico.
He is survived by his daughters, Graciela Rodriguez and husband, David of Sabinal, Delfina Herrera, Norma Alicia Herrera both of Austin, and Rosa Herrera of Sabinal; sons, Lupe Herrera and wife, Carmen of Piedras Negras, Juan Herrera of Pearsall and Jose Luis Herrera and wife, Irene of Cedar Park; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; daughter in law Rosalinda Herrera of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelina Cortez Herrera; parents; daughters, Maria Luisa Herrera and Maria Herrera; and son, Oscar Rojelio Herrera.
A rosary will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sabinal. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Juan Herrera, David Rodriguez Sr., David Rodriguez Jr., Thomas Anthony Moreno, Anthony Rodriguez and Joseph Rodriguez.
