Lynda Campbell 77, of Uvalde, TX passed away on Friday June 9, 2023 in Uvalde. Services will be Monday, June 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Getty Street Church of Christ, with King Burney of Dimmitt, TX and Tim Myers of Amarillo, TX officiating. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, Uvalde. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary of Uvalde, TX. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 11th at the mortuary.
Lynda was born June 10, 1945 in Plainview, TX to Harley and J. Elouise (Summers) Dodd. She graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, Jimmie Carroll Campbell, November 9, 1963 in Dimmitt, TX. To this union were born two sons, Chip and Corey Campbell.
In 1969, the family moved to Boise City, Oklahoma. Lynda was a woman of many talents farming beside her husband for many years. While living in Boise City, besides farming and raising a family, Lynda owned and operated “Something Sweet by Lynda” specializing in cinnamon rolls, pies, cookies and decorated cakes. She catered hundreds of weddings in Oklahoma and Texas.
In 1984 they moved to Uvalde, TX where she continued catering. She first went to work for the Uvalde School District as an aide at Robb Elementary finishing her school career at Central Office where she served as IT director and then secretary to the superintendent. Never one to be idle, her retirement was short lived. She took on the position of secretary at Getty Street Church of Christ until an accident in 2022 forced her into retirement again.
Lynda was loved and admired by all who knew her and many credited their successes to her, She never met a stranger and made friends everywhere she went. She loved and supported all of her family, unconditionally. The very best mother, Gigi, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Chip Campbell of Uvalde and Corey Campbell and wife Norma of Batesville, TX. Three granddaughters, Kristen Havens of Tonkawa, OK, Nicole Campbell and Briana Campbell of San Antonio. Two great granddaughters, Kacy and Piper Havens of Tonkawa. Two sisters, Derryl Palmer and husband Jim and Leta Dennis. Brothers in law Lynn Campbell and wife Carolyn and Steve Campbell and wife Kay numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
