Magdalena Varela

Magdalena C. Varela of Uvalde passed away on February 17, 2012 at Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde at the age of 81. She was born on April 15, 1930 in Uvalde, Texas to Severo and Clara Cruz Cuellar. She is survived by daughters, Oralia Castillo and husband Armando and Rachel Varela all of Uvalde, Texas, sons, Alberto Bernal of Tennessee and Leo Varela of San Antonio, Texas, sisters, Eva Diaz and Rebecca Garcia of Uvalde, Texas, brothers, Ricardo Cuellar and Raul Cuellar Sr. of Uvalde, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 4 greatgreat grandchildren, 2 greatgreatgreat grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Elias A. Varela, son, Mario Bernal, two sisters, Ramona Barrera and Amelia Aguilar, one brother, Gilberto Cuellar and parents. A Holy Rosary will be recited on Sunday and Monday night at 7:00 PM at the RushingEstesKnowles Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Uvalde, Texas. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elias Leo Varela, Jr. Antonio Varela Armando Castillo, Jr. Randy Gonzalez Mario Alberto Bernal and Tilo Garcia.
