Manuel Gardea

Manuel B. Gardea of Uvalde passed away on June 7, 2008 in Uvalde Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. He was born on August 8, 1919 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico to Francisco and Maria de Jesus Barrientos Gardea. He married Manuela Gardea in Piedras Negras on August 12, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 70 years; six daughters, Lydia Gardea of Piedras Negras; Severita Fraire of Uvalde; Armandina Ortega of Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico; Josepha De La Garza of Uvalde; Alma Leticia Fuentes of Denton; and Mari Cruz Riojas of Eagle Pass; four sons, Ignacio Gardea of Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico; Victor Gardea of Piedras Negras; Francisco Gardea of Dallas; and Hector Gardea of Uvalde; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Fr. Wieslaw Iwaniec will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jose Riojas; Francisco Gardea; Hector Gardea; Manuel Ortega; Alberto De La Garza; Rigo Gardea; and Hector Gardea, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Victor Gardea and Jose Gardea.
