Maria Cardona

Maria E. Chonita Cardona of Uvalde, Tx. passed away September 1, 2007 at Amistad Nursing Home at the age of 88.

She was born May 17, 1919 in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico to Benito Maria de los Angeles Torres. She married David M. Cardona in Remolino, Coahuila, Mexico in 1951.

She is survived by three sons, Aroldo Rodriguez wife, Dora of Uvalde; David T. Cardona wife, Mary of Pearsall; and Alfredo Cardona of Uvalde; a sister, Evangelina Rodriguez of San Antonio; grandchildren, Diana Gosnell husband, Eric of Seattle, WA; Aroldo Rodriguez wife, Rita of San Antonio; David Cardona wife, Rose of Austin; Mario Cardona of Kingsville; Amanda Cardona of Uvalde; and Alfredo Cardona, Jr. of Uvalde; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Maria J. Cardona; and two granddaughters, Margarita Cardona Flores and Patricia S. Cardona.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Fr. Wieslaw Iwaniec will officiate. A rosary will be held on Sunday and Monday nights at 7:00 PM at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel. Pallbearers will be Mario Cardona; Aroldo Rodriguez, Jr.; Francisco Corrales; Rogelio Cardona; Hugo Cardona Hernandez; and Alfredo Cardona, Jr.; Pete Sanchez, Jr. Armando Cardona, Jr.
