Maria D. Castanon

Maria D. Castanon, 68, of Sabinal passed away on December 24, 2023, at her residence. 

She was born on March 7, 1955, in Villa Nueva Zacatecas, Mexico to Maria Concepcion (Moreno) and Gillermo Aguayo Escobedo. 

She married Jose Manuel Castanon on May 29, 1975, in Villa Nueva, Zacatecas. 

She is survived by her husband of Sabinal; daughter, Sandra Castanon and husband, Arnulfo Alvarado of Sabinal; son, Francisco Castanon of Sabinal; six sisters, Martha Aguayo of Colorado, Ester Aguayo, Rosa Aguayo both of Agua Calientes, Mexico, Teresa Aguayo of California, Lucia Aguayo of Villa Nueva, Zacatecas, and Rosanna Aguayo of Pennsylvania; brothers, Juan de Dios Aguayo of Villa Nueva, Zacatecas, Gillermo Aguayo of California, Rafael Aguayo of California, and Jose Alfredo Aguayo of Villa Nueva, Zacatecas; three grandchildren, Nadia Castanon, Johnathan Alvarado and Ptolemy Alvarado all of Sabinal; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 12 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 3 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sabinal.  Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
