Maria Gonzales

Maria Elena Gonzales of Uvalde passed away on February 21, 2023, at the age of 72.

She was born on March 3, 1950, in Temple, Texas to Guadalupe (Hernandez) and Pascual Moreno, Sr.

She married Richard O. Gonzales in Austin, Texas on December 4, 1970.

She is survived by her husband, City Municipal Judge, Richard O. Gonzales of Uvalde; daughters, Isabel Ybarra and husband, June of Uvalde and Cassandra G. Lugo and husband, Mike of San Antonio; sisters, Connie Estorga of California, Frances Thomas of Harker Heights, Guadalupe Mendoza of Temple and Angelina Torres of Laredo; brothers, Candelario Moreno of Austin, Jose Moreno of Houston, and Aniceto Moreno of Temple; four grandchildren, Pilar Donaciana Newberry, Juanita Victoria Andrews, Maciel Olivia Briones, and Anthony Xavier Gonzales; eleven great grandchildren, Victoria Newberry, Mia Grace Newberry, Chloe Newberry, Penelope Newberry, Camilla Briones, Amelia Briones, Liliana Briones, James Andrews, Thomas Andrews, John Andrews and William Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Pascual Moreno, Jr., Luis Ramirez and Rodolfo Moreno.

Visitation will begin on Monday February 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A rosary will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m.  at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Fred Newberry, Tanner Andrews, Javier Briones, Anthony Gonzales, Rylan Diaz and Arnoldo Silva.
