Maria Enriqueta (Queta) Sanchez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 7th, 2025, just two days shy of her 90th birthday and leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and devotion.
Queta was born on February 9, 1935 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico to Bonifacio and Espetacion Granados, the fifth child of this union.
Her brother introduced her to their friend, Manuel, in 1950 and a friendship developed. On December 18, 1956, Manuel mustered up the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend. They were married on December 28, 1958, building a beautiful life together raising their five children in Uvalde.
Queta embraced her roles as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother pouring love and care into her family and home. With great grace, strength, and a deep faith, she found joy in homemaking and the simple blessings of life. Her kindness and warmth extended beyond her family, touching the lives of countless friends and her cherished church community.
Queta is survived by her best friend and husband of 66 years, Manuel Sanchez, her beloved children; Victor Manuel Sanchez and partner Esmeralda Nino, Rosa Maria Cuellar and husband Juan, Juan Jose Sanchez and partner Rosie Garza, Ester Gonzalez and husband Alejandro, Rebecca Castillo and husband Robert. Grandchildren are; Magda Cortez and husband Rene, Victor Manuel Sanchez, Jr. and wife Alana, Marissa Roque and husband Fidencio, John Paul Cuellar, Raquelle Gonzalez and husband Elias, Juan Jose Sanchez, Jr. and wife Ashley, Pedro Luis Contreras and wife Yessenia, Keith Sanchez and partner Amanda De Leon, Stephen Sanchez, Manuel Gonzalez and wife Rachael, Amanda Ibarra and husband Daniel, Alexis McHargue and husband Michael, Joshua Gonzalez and wife Sierra, Alexander Gonzalez, Eric Castillo, Zipporah Hernandez and husband Aaron, Robert Alexander Castillo and fiancé Cristina Flores, Sarah Garcia and husband Herman, Hope Castillo, Noble Castillo and 24 great grandchildren.
Also surviving Queta, are her brothers Eliseo Granados and Ernesto Granados, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Queta’s greatest legacy is the love she shared, her unwavering faith and her famous tacos with rice (yum!) She often expressed that her prayer for the loved ones was that they come to know and trust Jesus just as she had.
She is now reunited in heaven with; her parents, grandsons Nathan Vasquez and Eli Moreno, her sister Antonia Ceniceros, and brothers Vicente Granados, Miguel Granados, Rito Granados, Paulino Granados, Joel Granados alongside her Savior, Jesus Christ.
While she will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved, the impact of her love, faith, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Eagle Pass Nursing and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care and loving support provided to Queta during her time there as well as the tender, comforting, loving care by Uvalde Hospice ensuring comfort in her final days.
