Maria Gaitan

Maria Teresa “Teri” Gaitan, of Uvalde, passed away on January 20, 2022, at her residence at the age of 67. She was born in Eagle Pass, Tx to Ricardo R. Flores and Antonia V. Flores

She married Jose F Gaitan on November 16, 1984, in Carrizo Springs, Tx.

After Teri graduated from Uvalde High School, she started her career as a cake decorator at H-E-B where she met her husband, Jose. Years later they opened their own business, Fiesta Bakery & Cake Shop which is presently managed by their son Frank Gaitan. Teri was a humble, generous, and loving person. Her faith and family were her life. She supported many organizations such as St. Jude’s, EWTN, American Diabetes Association, and American Cancer Society through donations. Locally, Teri volunteered her time with organizations such CCD, Band Boosters, Girl Scouts, and Sacred Heart School where her daughter Teresa attended.

Teri is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jose Gaitan, son Frank Gaitan and wife Amanda and their children Frankie and Aiden of Uvalde, daughter Teresa Gaitan of Denton, Tx, sisters Mary Flores of Uvalde and Pat Young and husband Ron of New Port Richey, Fl, stepdaughters Norma Charles and Sandra Gaitan and husband Henry Arocha, stepsons Joe Gaitan and wife Rhonda, Robert Gaitan and wife Marti, Roland Gaitan and wife Jennifer, Danny Gaitan and wife Stephanie and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren

Teri is preceded in death by her father Ricardo R. Flores and mother Antonia V. Flores, brother Richard V Flores Jr. and wife Diane M. Flores.

Rosary will be held on Monday, January 31st at 7:00 p.m. at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Reception will be held at Rushing Estes.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Gaitan, Roland Gaitan, Robert Gaitan, Isaac Gaitan, Danny Gaitan, Aurelio Tellez, and David Valle.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
